Browncoats, unite!Ģ) Arrested Development: There’s a reason this series is on almost every “canceled too soon” list ever written: It’s brilliant. And, for the truly devoted, an assortment of Serenity-inspired comic books, the latest of which was written by actor/comedian Patton Oswalt. My only gripe about the show is that there isn’t more of it. (Look for a pre- Mad Men Christina Hendricks to make an appearance, too.) I could write an entire post about each actor and the character he/she plays, but I’d never be able to do them justice. But just in case you need more incentive to watch, here are nine out-of-this-world reasons to seal the deal: Nathan Fillion, Adam Baldwin, Alan Tudyk, Gina Torres, Morena Baccarin, Jewel Staite, Sean Maher, Summer Glau, and Ron Glass, also known as the crew of the anti-Alliance ship Serenity. If that doesn’t pique your curiosity, I don’t know what will. It’s absurdly good–and completely original. Generally speaking, sci-fi isn’t really my thing, but this show turns me into a geeky, gushing fangirl.

(Recommend your own favorite dearly departed show in the comments.)ġ) Firefly: I never understood Trekkies until I watched this space-age Western from cult favorite Joss Whedon, the man behind Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Dollhouse. Here (in case you missed it in June) are a few of the best to watch on DVD. There’s a long history of great shows going to an early grave. I’m sad, of course, but unfortunately not surprised.

Lone Star–my favorite new show of the season–is officially dead after only two (super stellar) episodes.
